At Vita 34 we protect the building blocks of life. We protect the stem cells from children’s umbilical cords to provide the children with a precious and unique opportunity in future medical treatments. Stem cells could help cure diseases and mend injuries right from the birth and throughout life.

It is our belief – and something we constantly work with – that all children could be raised in a world where they will have access to to their own stem cells and that they will be a natural part of treatment options. That is why we collect and store stem cells from the umbilical cord blood and cord tissue. Not only in the Nordic region but also across Europe.

Our location in Denmark and our operations in the Nordic countries originally controlled under the name StemCare. In 2015 StemCare became a part of the Vita 34 family. This gave StemCare a much larger network and access to all the experience at Vita 34. Therefore we are now a part of one of the world’s largest and most influential stem cell banks, which both we and our customers will benefit from and can feel very safe and proud of.

Vita 34 is the largest and most experienced stem cell bank in the Nordic region, and we assist parents in protecting their children’s stem cells from both umbilical cord blood and cord tissue both in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. We are specialized in the processing and storage of stem cells and together with our mother company in Leipzig we already protect the stem cells from 145,000 children. Stem cells that have already been applied in medical treatment 30 times.

The name Vita 34 comes from Latin meaning “life” and the number 34 refers to the CD34 cell surface protein that is unique to hematopoietic stem cells of the umbilical cord. Our name thus symbolizes the exact thing that we are passionate about; the building blocks of life – stem cells from the umbilical cord – and all the remarkable opportunities they produce for all of our children.

Research projects

Vita 34 is involved actively in application research and collaborates with universities and research institutions all over Europe. In the business year 2015, Vita 34 intensified its research activities and thus allowed for the dynamic development in the field of regenerative medicine. We do this because we are interested not only in storage of stem cells, but very much also in being able to apply stem cells in more and more treatments. Thus, the entire process, from collection to transport, preparation and storage of umbilical cord blood  and tissue to the stem cells are handed over to attending physicians, lies in our hands. Paul Ehrlich Institute, an entity of the German Federal Ministry of Health, and other authorities, regularly monitor the laboratory and processes.
